Noah preached 100-120 years and no followers. What the hell was he preaching?
by James Mixon inlet me see if i have this straight.
we are to believe noah preached over a 100 years with 0 effect.. the bible records that lamech, noah's father had sons and daughter's but the number is not included.
to have a plural number of brothers and sisters, there would be at least four siblings, two brothers and two sisters.. my folks had 6 kids and 90 years later there are over 100 family members.. some say based on what's written in gen.6:3, noah preached anywhere between 100-120 years.

Londo111:" And even being a preacher, does that mean going house to house",
it doesn't . I said that because most JW believe that Adam, Noah, Moses and
Jesus were JW.. I agree, WT retrofitted door-to door evangelizing...
So Noah didn't preach repentance, his words you folks are screwed. I bet you
he didn't have many friends...

Let me see if I have this straight. We are to believe Noah preached over a 100 years with 0 effect.

Some say based on what's written in Gen.6:3, Noah preached anywhere between 100-120 years. Sometime between his 500 and 600 birthday God informed Noah he was going to give everyone a good and long bath. If his sons were old enough to be married when God called on Noah to build the ark Gen:6;18 indicates Noah couldn't have spent over a 100 years. knocking on people doors..
Now, Noah had brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and other family members, so are we to believe not one member of his family besides his sons did not believe he was nuts..
Jesus preached for 3 1/2 years and had 100's or thousand of followers, look at the nutty JW, millions of folks.
If a lightning bolt struck my large tree in my yard and the face of a man appeared on the truck of the tree and I said it look like Jesus, in 10 years I would have folks worshipping my tree in my back yard.
What the hell was Noah Preaching???
And another thing, who were these women that married his sons. You are going to marry who? No way will you marry into the family, their father walks a different step then most people...

Watchtower doctrine: Judges 1:19 (God couldn't defeat the Iron Chariots)
by southwest inthis weeks assigned bible reading is judges 1-4. i have never noticed judges 1:19 before which reads in the nwt as:.
jehovah was with judah, and they took possession of the mountainous region, but they could not drive out the inhabitants of the plain,* because they had war chariots with iron scythes.
but in the kj as:.

Talking about contradiction, Joshua 17;18 "for you shall drive out
the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots and are strong".
OK which is it all mighty one?? One minute you tell me we can defeat the
Canaanites and the next minute you tell us we will get our butts kicked.
The people that wrote the Bible were neurotic...

Sir: 1 Corinthians 15;33 "Do not be deceived: Evil company
corrupts good habits". You seem like a nice guy, find others
to play soccer with. If you are not a JW you are believed to be
Evil company, even by your own family members...

JW's Don't Really Believe Satan is Real ...
by TTATTelder inif you walked up to any jw and said "i just spoke to satan" they would think you lost your mind.
while that reaction makes perfect sense in the real world, in wt land it doesn't add up.
here's why i say this -jw's are supposed to believe the following:.

A sister told the elders Satan was pestering her at nights in
her bed. The sister was single..One elder stated, she needs to get married.

Have there been any existing cultural group made up of rationalists with neither a religion or a mythology?
by James Mixon indisbelief is the default position, no one is born having a belief.
beliefs are.
acquired through culture and education, we all know that.

Disbelief is the default position, no one is born having a belief. Beliefs are
acquired through culture and education, we all know that. It is not
ultimately up to the atheist to justify atheism; rather it is up to the
theist to explain why belief in a God is reasonable. In the absence
of such explanation, theism should be regarded as irrelevant at
best but likely irrational.
Back to my original question, groups made up of rationalists and etc.
Pygmy tribes found in Africa have no identifiable cults or rites. There
were no totems, no gods, no spirits.
Tribes in Cameroon only believed in a malicious gods and so made no efforts
to placate or please them. LOL
One tribe answer about God "is he on a rock? On a white-ant hill? On a tree?
I never saw a God!
North America. Some North American indian tribes believed in a god, but did
not actively worship it, their philosophy, "Our grandfathers and our great-
grandfathers were won't to contemplate the earth alone, solicitous only
to see whether the plain afford grass and water for their horses. They
never troubled themselves about what went on in the heavens, and who
was the creator and governor of the stars.
What a fine way to live.

Need advice on a comeback to my wife: when she is in cult mode she says faith without works is dead.
by goingthruthemotions inso i have gotten into arguements with my wife in the past about this cult.
now a days after reading steve hassan books...i just try and avoid anything jdub with her.
try to keep her in authentic mode..(not sure she really has one).

So does it mean we need works to help our faith or that our faith
is incomplete without works.
Acts, Romans and Mark states just believe and you will be saved.
JW's only see by knocking on doors they will be saved or standing
at their stands looking weird..
As others have mention, your faith should move you to do good for
others. It doesn't mean waking people up on a Sat. morning.
Their faith is based solely on door knocking, forget the hungry, needed and
as Morpheus and other mention the orphans and widows..
